I work in painting and video. Both media offer the possibility of concreteness and fluidity. Painted space appears to be liquid - it can infiltrate or be permeated. In my videos, real time is extended as a psychology in flux emerges.

Where do I end and you begin? How do we learn to be part of a group, a bigger world? The process of asking reveals tensions between interconnectedness and individualism, between conformity and dissent . I envision the genre of portraiture as an exploration of social continuums. In my images, the figures seem at once bolstered up and compromised, conflating roles of power and vulnerability.
